The International Mountain Bike Association (IMBA) has recently awarded Scotland the Worlds’ top mountain bike destination for the second year running. Ballater, Royal Deeside lives up to this accolade and is an ideal location from which to explore natural trails and various purpose-built centres.

Nestled on the Eastern side of the Cairngorms National Park, Ballater is surrounded by terrain suitable for all abilities. From easy forest trails to single-track descents you can explore for an hour, day or week. The quiet roads give a spectacular window into local nature and history.

Cyclehighlands Ltd. was formed in 2004 by Richard and Elizabeth Watts. Richard grew up cycling around Royal Deeside and with much help from the 9Zero Freewheelers, Ballaters’ mountain bike club, the shop has become the hub for all things cycling in the area.

Cyclehighlands specializes in bike hire, guiding and corporate events for all abilities from what has become Aberdeenshire’s biggest bike shop. The shop is also an official demo centre for Cannondale and Santa Cruz.  Other leading brands include GT, Lapierre and Mongoose.
